KOBELCO excavators at work in Frechen, Germany

In Frechen, Germany, demolition company MAD is using the KOBELCO SK300LC-11 and SK350NLC-11E to dismantle a former cast iron piping factory.

The machines were supplied by KOBELCO dealer Thomas Baumaschinen. Together, they provide the power, control and precision required to dismantle the former industrial buildings and prepare the site for its next phase.

From industrial site to residential neighbourhood

The project involves dismantling buildings that once formed part of a cast iron piping factory. Once the demolition and site preparation work is complete, the area is planned to become a modern residential zone.

The redevelopment plans include new housing, a school and a kindergarten. The demolition phase therefore represents the first step in transforming the former industrial location into a new space for the local community.

Two KOBELCO machines for demanding demolition work

MAD is using two KOBELCO excavators to support the demolition work. The European SK300LC-11E combines a 210 kW engine with an operating weight of approximately 30.7 to 31.5 tonnes, providing strong performance for heavy construction and earthmoving applications.

The SK350NLC-11E also delivers 210 kW and has an operating weight of approximately 36.9 to 37.7 tonnes. Its narrow-track configuration reduces the machine width while maintaining the stability and performance required for demanding work.

Power and precision for site redevelopment

Large-scale demolition requires controlled operation as structures are dismantled and materials are handled across the site. The combination of the SK300LC-11 and SK350NLC-11E gives MAD two machines suited to different tasks within the same redevelopment project.

As the work progresses, the machines are helping clear the former industrial site and prepare the area for the planned residential development.
