KOBELCO SK520LC-11E excavators on the Fylde coastline

On the Fylde coastline in the United Kingdom, Ovenden Earthmoving is using KOBELCO SK520LC-11E excavators on a major marine infrastructure project.

Working in partnership with Molson Equipment, the machines support coastal protection work through precise rock placement and sand excavation. These demanding operations require power, stability and accurate machine control at the water’s edge.

Heavy-duty performance at the water’s edge

Marine infrastructure projects expose machinery to difficult ground conditions, changing tides and a highly corrosive coastal environment. Ovenden Earthmoving therefore requires excavators capable of delivering reliable performance throughout intensive operations.

On this project, the SK520LC-11E excavators move and position large rocks used in the coastal defences. The machines also support sand excavation, helping the project team complete different tasks along the coastline.

Precise rock placement for coastal protection

Rock armour must be positioned carefully to create strong coastal structures. The size and weight of the material make machine stability, lifting performance and precise hydraulic response important throughout the placement process.

The KOBELCO excavators allow the project team to handle large rocks with the control needed to build and reinforce the coastal defences.

Power and control from the SK520LC-11E

The KOBELCO SK520LC-11E is built for heavy-duty applications. The machine combines 348 kW of engine power with an operating weight starting at approximately 52.9 tonnes.

Molson Equipment prepared the excavators for work in the marine environment before delivery to Ovenden Earthmoving. The machines received adaptations intended to protect important components from harsh coastal conditions.
